Welcome to Round II.

Our next project will focus on energy bikes and piezoelectric dance floors and how they can benefit our community.

What are they?

ENERGY BIKES

-Energy bikes are exercise bicycles that use a generator to convert the kinetic energy produced by pedaling

into electrical energy that we can use!

-Efficient energy bikes will produce around 0.5 kWh for every moderate 30 minute workout. That's enough

to power most electrical appliances in your home!

BIODIESEL VEHICLES

-Biodiesel vehicles run on waste cooking oil in place of petroleum diesel fuel.

        - Vegetable oil is a renewable source of energy, unlike diesel, and emits less pollutants into the atmosphere. It is also much cheaper.

Why are they so important?

-Energy bikes and veggie oil buses are just two of the many routes we can take to decreasing the amount of pollution we emit.

-Although the bikes do not produce massive amounts of electricity, they are enough to make the public aware of the environmental problems ailing Earth. They are capable of starting a chain reaction that will change the direction in which the earth is headed.

What is our plan?

-We will attend a Climate Change Forum at Cary Institute to learn more about the environmental issues in our area.

-We will attend an event at the Walkway Over the Hudson to learn more about energy bikes and what they offer our community.

-We will educate students and adults across New York about the benefits of implementing energy bikes and other innovative energy harvesting options.

-We will build our own energy bike as a demonstration that will supplement the education.

-We will renovate and convert a vegetable oil school bus into an educational laboratory.

Our Progress...

-We attended the Forum and event to obtain a basis of background knowledge about the climatic issues in our area.
